Dear Myk

I will never forget the first day I met you. You were (in my eyes) the only creative, on a balcony in a Claremont bar in 2005.

Per chance I met you, as Kyle stood up to offer me his seat, which was next to yours.

Everyone knows what it is like, when you start talking to someone, and you can't stop. You can't stop sharing your ideas,
ideals, and what you want to see happening in the world, and your own life,
in the future.

With Myk I had that feeling. He made me laugh. He had witty jokes, he had corny jokes, he had dumb jokes. But they all made me laugh.

For my birthday, he baked me a cake, walked all the way to my house with it, a special recipe from his grandma, a secret sauce,
the recipe, I was never able to worm out of him!

It sounds cliched, but I never had a dull moment with Myk.

I have my favourite memories of taking out R5
dvd's from Rondebosch Cafe. Even unfunny shows, like House, were hilarious when watched in the company of Richard, Myk and Karen. Imagine how funny really funny shows were.

In my home, we don't eat a lot of family dinners. I always felt so honoured, so fortunate, when it so happened that I could stay for dinner with the Merrett family.

You made me mixtapes, you drew pictures. Picture books filled with scribbles,
you used to show me all the new things you drew if I hadn't seen you in a while.

You helped me out, even when you didn't always feel like it.

There were times when we weren't that close. It seems like that is simply how life is. But I always remember the most precious times spent with you, when I could forget all the worries and stresses of the world, and laugh with you, most joyfully.

In those moments, you were my bestest friend. That feeling will be with me forever.

I only knew you for five years, but at this age, five years is still alot. I thank you, for making me, for such a BIG part of my life, happier than I would have been without you.
